Or is it fantasy?

We live because we are born, correct? I know, it is a very negative view of life. Yet, sometimes can any one help feeling as such?

We can enter a philosophical plane and view life from another angle.

In the meantime, let us accept the fact that we are here, alive and well, and are only concerned with living the life we are endowed with. Let us leave philosophical issues aside for the moment.

Living, translates, more or less, to working. Agree? Most of the best part of one's life is spent directly on work, or work related activities and commitments. Unless you endowed with a fortune, no work means no life!

This is the place to talk about living in general, and in particular, in foreign countries. Why in foreign countries? I like to tackle it this way because I am also living in a foreign country. Such life has far more variables to deal with than living in your own country.

Why did you leave your home country? To greener pastures? On an assignment? On exile? Because of marriage?

Perhaps on retirement?

Whatever the reason, we shall look at the implications in this section.

Fine. How do you rate your life, wherever you are living? A success? A matter of survival under the circumstances??

Irrespective of your economic standing, do you feel secure in your environment? It is important that you do; there is no point in getting holed up in a fortress surrounded by battlements and protected day and night by armies of bodyguards, does it?

I mean, there must be some way of enjoying life outside the crushing framework of everyday survival issues. Surely? What do you do? Of course there are the usual birthdays, anniversaries within the family and among friends here and back home. Then there are the holidays. What else do you celebrate? Any cultural events to remind you of 'home'?

Perhaps you enjoy hobbies, like eating out, or even cooking at home. Perhaps you are attracted to exotic dishes. Well, I am publishing here Sri Lankan recipes for various occassions, adapted for ingredients and tools available abroad.
